‘Ghost of Tsushima’ Anime Adaptation Delayed to 2028

The release window for the anime adaptation based on the game ‘Ghost of Tsushima: Legends’ has been delayed to 2028.

Crunchyroll, the anime streaming service and distributor under Sony Group, announced at New York Comic Con 2026 on October 8 (local time) that the ‘Ghost of Tsushima: Legends’ anime is scheduled to release in 2028. The title was originally targeted for a 2027 release. Specific reasons for the delay were not disclosed.

The anime will be based not on the main ‘Ghost of Tsushima’ game developed by Sucker Punch Productions, but on its multiplayer mode, ‘Legends’, added in 2020. Unlike the main game’s realistic period-drama atmosphere, ‘Legends’ is co-op content that heavily incorporates Japanese folklore and supernatural elements.

Takanobu Mizuno, who directed ‘The Duel’ from ‘Star Wars: Visions’, will serve as director, with Kamikaze Douga handling animation production. Gen Urobuchi, known for ‘Puella Magi Madoka Magica’ and ‘PSYCHO-PASS’, is involved in series composition and screenwriting, co-writing the script alongside Renji Oki.

Additional voice cast members were also revealed in this announcement. Mayumi Saco, who played Tomoe in the original game, and Shinya Fukumatsu, known for voicing Bomb in ‘One-Punch Man’, have joined the cast. The roles the two will play in the anime have not yet been disclosed.

Keiji Inai will compose the music, and Yoshikazu Iwanami will serve as sound director. The project is produced by HAYATE in collaboration with Aniplex and <a href="https://comicvibe.com/10-great-playstation-games-under-15-in-the-players-choice-sale/” title=”10 great PlayStation games under $15 in the Player's Choice sale”>PlayStation Productions, with Sony Music participating as the music and soundtrack partner. Upon release, it will stream exclusively on Crunchyroll.

Specific details regarding the release timing and episode count of the ‘Ghost of Tsushima: Legends’ anime will be announced at a later date.
