Nintendo is celebrating the 40th anniversary of The Legend of Zelda all year long, and they’ve already revealed a bunch of plans. We have Zelda: Ocarina of Time coming to Switch 2 on November 5th, there’s an entire concert series in the works, the Legend of Zelda live-action movie drops April 30th, 2026, and there’s even more celebrations on the way. Without a doubt, Nintendo has made it clear they’re going to celebrate the franchise in every way possible in honor of its 4 decades.
In a chat with Variety, Nintendo America president Devon Pritchard touched on Nintendo’s approach to Zelda’s 40th anniversary. While there’s no doubt more celebratory plans in the works that haven’t been revealed yet, Pritchard says the key to everything they’re doing is that it’s all “deliberate and thoughtful.”
“I think it’s really about the celebration of ‘Zelda’ and the ‘Zelda’ universe in its entirety. It’s Link, it’s Zelda, and all the other characters. I think it’s more about, how do we create a celebration that everyone can come in and join and connect with that world? Whether it’s the theme park, whether it’s movies, anything we’re going to do is going to be deliberate and thoughtful about that experience that you’re having.”
