Nintendo has always been interested in capturing the interest of a wide demographic for its platforms, and that’s the case once again with Switch 2.
Just like the original Nintendo Switch, we’re seeing a strong variety of experiences on the new console. Titles like the Zelda: Ocarina of Time remake appeal to longtime gamers, but there are also more casual titles such as Nintendo Switch Sports Resort that players can go through.
Nintendo of America president Devon Pritchard spoke about this more in an interview with Variety, stating:
“We have historically said that Nintendo is for ages 5 to 95, and that continues to be true. We want to provide a diversity in terms of the types of experiences that you can have on the game system, and that’s really important for us. Some gamers are excited about role-playing game Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave; others want to talk about the cozy Pokemon Pokopia. So we want to make sure we’re a platform where people can come in and have those different types of creative experiences and have fun.”
Grand Theft Auto 6 is one of the biggest games of the year, and it’ll be launching very soon. However, there’s currently no word on whether we’ll eventually see it on Nintendo Switch 2.
Variety decided to ask Pritchard about this as well. For now, she kept mostly quiet about the topic.
“That’s going to be a conversation for Take-Two and Rockstar, but nothing to announce on my end at this time.”
We just heard from a former developer who worked on GTA 6, who argued that it wouldn’t make sense to bring the game to Nintendo Switch 2. In any case, it remains to be seen what will happen in the future.
