The latest gaming sales data for the United States have come in, and it gives us a look at how things went down in August 2026. Let’s kick things off with the top 20 software sales of the month. Please note that <a href="https://comicvibe.com/nintendo-switch-2-game-key-card-sales-have-increased-by-631-in-the-u-s/” title=”Nintendo Switch 2 game-key card sales have increased by 631% in the U.S.”>Nintendo titles mentioned in the top 20 reflect projected digital sales from Circana, and not figures provided by Nintendo.

We also have the total sales in terms of all games, accessories, hardware and more.

When it comes to hardware, we don’t have actual sales numbers, but we do have stats and placements for the platforms.

- Switch 2 led the US hardware market in both unit and dollar sales for both the August and 2026 year-to-date periods
- PlayStation 5 ranked 2nd across both measures and time periods
