Mystery anime are always fun until you decide to start one at midnight thinking you’ll watch just one episode.
Yes, and that one episode never ends and it’s already 3 AM and you’re still trying to figure out who did it, what’s actually happening, and why everyone is acting suspicious. Isn’t it that true?
Well for me it, I have binged a lot of them in one sitting…
So, if you’re looking for some mystery anime to add to your fall watchlist, here are some you should definitely check out!
Also, I’m again warning they’re super addictive so watch on your own discretion.
Tasokare Hotel:
I started this anime on wimp and couldn’t put it down.If you like mysteries with a supernatural twist, and smart characters solving mysterious cases, Tasokare Hotel is one you should definitely watch this season.
The story takes place in a mysterious hotel between life and death, Yes! It’s like the Death parade ifykyk.
The people who arrive there don’t remember who they are or what happened to them, and they have to slowly uncover their memories and past. Then only pass to another life.
Each guest comes with their own story and mystery, so there’s always something new to figure out and keep sinking in it.
It has this strange but cozy atmosphere that makes it a really fun late-night watch or if you like you can start in the evening so that you can simply binge it!
Another:
Okay, this one is definitely for when you want something creepy. Also, I warn you might scream or get scared after watching it. So, don’t watch it alone if you are scared easily.
The story starts with Kouichi transferring to a new school and quickly notices that something feels very wrong with his class, especially when it comes to a mysterious girl named Mei Misaki.
Nobody wants to properly explain what’s happening, and obviously, things only get worse from there and interestingly you won’t get what’s actually happening there till the end.
Another has mystery, horror, creepy school vibes and plenty of moments that will make you question what is actually going on. It is super slow paced but worth the wait. So, don’t drop it mid way.
Also, probably not the best choice if you actually want to sleep after watching.
Erased:
Erased is one of those anime where you just HAVE to know what happens next. Trust me, if you are someone who don’t have self control just skip this one (Don’t, you will regret it)
The story starts with Satoru having a strange ability that sends him back in time before something bad happens, (Yes Tokyo revengers, even before Tokyo revengers was a thing). But after one major incident, he suddenly finds himself back in his childhood.
He realizes that everything might be connected to the disappearance of one of his classmates years ago, and now he has a chance to change what happened in the past that will change his present life drastically. I won’t spoil you for this one because you need to experience it by yourself.
It has mystery and suspense, but it’s also a really emotional side to it, which makes the story even better.Definitely one of those “okay, just one more episode” anime series for sure.
Shiki:
Next up is Shiki, one of my favourite horror mystery anime.
If creepy villages are your thing and zombies are something that fascinate you, add Shiki to your list.
The story focused on a small isolated village that suddenly starts dying under mysterious circumstances. Around the same time, a strange family moves into a huge mansion nearby.
Coincidence? Well…Who knows!
Shiki starts slowly, but that’s actually what makes it so good. The mystery keeps building as you start realizing that something is seriously wrong with this village and more especially with people.
It gets pretty dark too with all the gore stuff, so maybe don’t watch this one alone at 2 AM. But if this is your vibe, watch it before the cozy spooky season ends!
If these recommendations are not enough for you. We will come back with the next line up in our next blog. So, stay tuned because There are more mysteries, psychological games and some very chaotic detectives coming in Part 2.
And yes, they’re probably going to ruin your sleep schedule too for sure in a good way.
