Vijay Deverakonda has opened up about his relationship with Rashmika Mandanna, saying that he is possessive about his wife – but not in a way you are thinking.
During an interaction to promote their upcoming movie Ranabaali, the couple was asked about being possessive in marriage. In a lighthearted way, Rashmika said it would be a problem if Vijay wasn’t possessive and Vijay said that his feelings are because he cares a lot about every aspect of her life.

His comments quickly grabbed fan attention, with a number of social media users praising what they deemed as a caring, rather than controlling, form of possessiveness.
The actor also said that caring a lot doesn’t mean you’re worried all the time when things go wrong. “Life has its ups and downs and difficult situations are something people have to face and resolve rather than panic over,” Vijay said.

The couple have also talked about the importance of keeping small displays of affection in a relationship.
Rashmika said that people tend to stop trying after they get comfortable with each other in another chat, with podcaster Prakhar Gupta. She emphasised that after years together, little gestures and constant communication still matter.
Vijay also agreed with her and said that Rashmika is more mature in terms of relationships. She is known to say “I love you” to him 10 to 15 times a day and encourages him to say his feelings out loud.
Vijay said that his own instinct is different – if he has love for someone he may think the other person knows it already. Rashmika, for one, has apparently made him realize why it is important to be able to express those feelings freely.
Ranabaali is their first film together after their marriage
The couple are now preparing for Ranabaali, which is their first onscreen collaboration after tying the knot. The period action drama, directed by Rahul Sankrityan, will be released worldwide in theaters on October 16, 2026 ahead of Dussehra.
Vijay and Rashmika have previously shared screen space in Geetha Govindam and Dear Comrade. The reunion of the two actors has become one of the major talking points surrounding Ranabaali and their real life relationship has added another layer of interest to the film’s promotional campaign.
