What We Liked
- Great articulation
- It’s able to stand on its own
- A customisable face
What Could Be Better
- Arm joints can easily detach from body
- Would have been an ideal standalone LEGO PlayStation release
LEGO40899 Astro Bot is the second PlayStation set for 2026, launching alongside 72306 PlayStation, but it’s not wholly limited to that single set. 40899 Astro Bot is instead available with all purchases of £135 in the UK, $150 in the US, €150 in Europe, and $254 in Australia.
The 276-piece gift-with-purchase is therefore much more accessible than you would have expected. That’s in a year of set-specific gifts such as 40893 The Lord of the Rings: Grond and 40892 Kanto Region Badge Collection. 40899 Astro Bot may not have any exclusive minifigures, but it’s still one of the best promotional models released this year.
The elements used do a fantastic job of recreating Astro Bot’s curved features and bulbous head. That head is also designed to not be so heavy that the neck joint buckles under the weight. The rest of the joints are designed with interesting techniques and ideas that allow for a great amount of articulation in a seamless design.
The legs can detach from the body at times, but they are easy to reattach. The arms are also prone to coming off, but are similarly easy to put back in place. These risks are worthwhile for how perfectly the build captures the look of Astro Bot.
40899 Astro Bot comes with three stickers and one printed element. The stickers aren’t challenging to apply and are placed across Astro Bot’s body for additional details that would have been impossible to recreate at this scale.
The printed piece may be more in-demand as it is a nameplate based on the series’ logo. It’s the kind of design that can be versatile across custom PlayStation and gaming creations. The fact that it is printed makes this model feel more deluxe, though the presence of any stickers is therefore annoying.
Astro Bot’s head makes up a significant portion of the build, balancing detail with weight. It also provides adequate space for customising the character’s face to form expressions.
Switch the circular tiles for the included semi-circular variants, and you can make your LEGO Astro Bot look elated, upset, tired, angry, and so much more. It’s not a new feature for LEGO figures, but it works just as well as it did in the BrickLink Designer Program’s W.A.L.T.
40899 Astro Bot is depicted gliding, with lasers emerging from the feet and striking the display stand. That stand works well for displaying Astro Bot, but the figure can also stand on its own with some careful posing. It’s still a great example of how well-designed and balanced the build is.
Removing Astro Bot from the display stand allows you to freely pose the figure around your gaming space. From playing with a spare controller to sitting on top of your PlayStation 5, 40899 Astro Bot is a delight to play with.
When paired with a PlayStation console, 40899 Astro Bot is a fantastic accessory. The gift-with-purchase also works as an amazing LEGO figure whether you know the series or not. It is easily one of the best gifts-with-purchase released throughout 2026.
With so many LEGO models retiring later this year, and the new options on shelves, 40899 Astro Bot is a LEGO gift that is not to be missed. It would have been an ideal standalone release, as PlayStation Direct offered at first, but it at least carries a lower threshold for a gift of this size.
40899 Astro Bot is available through October 7 or while stocks last with orders above £135 in the UK, $150 in the US, €150 in Europe, and $254 in Australia on LEGO.com.

Our Verdict
LEGO 40899 Astro Bot stands tall as a gift-with-purchase, but would have made a great standalone release. The modern icon of PlayStation has been faithfully recreated with clever techniques to achieve its articulation and is worth a look before October 7.
