What sets Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii apart from other series entries

The Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii is different from other installments in the Like a Dragon series as it puts Goro Majima at the center of the story. Moreover, it shifts much of the action to the Hawaiian Islands and surrounding waters.

The game’s official description reads, “A new legend begins as you step into the steel-toed boots of Goro Majima, a man who has lost his memory and reinvents himself as a pirate on the open sea. Embark on an over-the-top, modern-day pirate adventure with an ex-yakuza, now pirate captain, and his crew as they engage in exhilarating combat on land and sea in the hunt for lost memories and a legendary treasure.”

As Majima, players can assemble a crew and upgrade their ship while exploring the open sea, firing cannons at enemies, and forming unexpected friendships. They can also collect loot as they progress. The game also lets players switch between two fighting styles, Mad Dog and Sea Dog, to mix up their attacks and deliver explosive combos.

Released on February 21, 2025, Like a Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii currently holds an average rating of 4.63 stars out of five on the PlayStation Store.
