If you missed the LEGO Insiders early access window, this one is for you. As of today, October 4, the LEGO PlayStation set is available to the general public through LEGO.com and LEGO Stores. The near 1:1 replica of Sony’s original 1994 console first went live on October 1 for LEGO Insiders members and through PlayStation Direct. Now anyone can pick one up for $179.99, no membership required.
We first broke down the set when it was revealed during Sony’s State of Play. Here’s a refresher on what you get, plus where to buy the LEGO PlayStation set now that it’s open to everyone.
What’s Inside the LEGO PlayStation Set (72306)

LEGO and Sony built this one for the collectors who grew up on the gray box. The 1,911-piece set recreates the original PlayStation, or PS1, at nearly the same size as the real hardware, complete with the disc lid, controller ports, and the classic gray finish. The Power and Open buttons both work mechanically, and the set includes a brick-built version of the original PlayStation controller that plugs right into the front of the console.
The real fun is hidden inside. Lift the lid and you’ll find two miniature dioramas paying tribute to a pair of PlayStation icons:
- Gran Turismo: a scaled-down race track with tiny cars and a finish line
- Ape Escape: an island scene with a monkey whose helmet light can be swapped between blue and red
Both dioramas can stay tucked inside the console or slide out and sit on display beside it. Fun detail for the purists: Ape Escape was the first game that required the DualShock’s twin analog sticks, so the original-style controller in this set technically couldn’t have played it. Obviously, you won’t be playing anything on the LEGO version either, but as a display piece for a game room or office shelf, it’s hard to beat.

Where to Buy the LEGO PlayStation Set

The LEGO PlayStation set is available now through LEGO.com and LEGO Stores, along with PlayStation Direct, where it has been available since October 1. LEGO Insiders membership is no longer required to purchase. Retail is $179.99.
Next Up: Dragon Ball x LEGO Shenron and Goku

If the PlayStation set has you in a building mood, LEGO has another big collab on deck. The Dragon Ball x LEGO Shenron and Goku set is the first-ever LEGO and Dragon Ball collaboration, and it drops next month. The 1,764-piece build features Shenron coiling around a tower, Kid Goku riding a detachable Kintoun (Flying Nimbus), and all seven Dragon Balls at the base. It releases November 1, 2026 for LEGO Insiders, followed by a global release on November 4, with retail set at $180.
The release pattern mirrors the PlayStation set, so if you want first crack at it, signing up for LEGO Insiders before November 1 is the move.
