Vishal Chaturvedi’s devotional film Hanuman Ansh, featuring Shobhinaw Satyaa as revered spiritual guru Neem Karoli Baba, continues to leave an impact not only at the box office but beyond that. Nearly two months after its release, the film’s impact is being reflected in the growing number of devotees and tourists visiting Baba’s shrine.
Hanuman Ansh effect
The impact of Hanuman Ansh appears to be extending beyond the box office, with a noticeable rise in devotees and tourists visiting Kainchi Dham. Almost two months after its release, the film’s popularity seems to have sparked greater interest in Baba Neem Karoli’s ashram. Devotees are now thronging the temple, particularly during weekends. According to Nainital Police, as reported by ETV Bharat, the daily footfall, which earlier stood at around 4,000 to 5,000 devotees, has crossed 6,000. On weekends, the number reportedly climbs to nearly 15,000 to 20,000, with devotees travelling to pay obeisance at Baba’s shrine.
More about Hanuman Ansh
Hanuman Ansh is one of the sleeper hits of Bollywood this year. The film, which was released in theatres last month, did not have much attention around its release. Talking about the box office, it closed its eighth week with Rs 317.33 crore at the domestic box office. Worldwide, the numbers stand at Rs 414 crore.
However, positive feedback from viewers helped the film gain more attention in the days that followed. Former Indian cricketer Virender Sehwag and actor Varun Dhawan were among those who praised the film on social media.
Written and directed by Vishal Chaturvedi, Hanuman Ansh is based on the life and teachings of Neeb Karori Baba, popularly known as Maharaj Ji. According to the film’s press release, he is revered by devotees as an incarnation of Lord Hanuman and was known for his teachings on love, devotion and service. The Uttarakhand government has also announced the film as tax-free in the state.
Amid the breakthrough success of his recent film, Hanuman Ansh, filmmaker Vishal Chaturvedi has now announced his next film, based on Tulsidas, titled RamBola. The upcoming film will revolve around the journey of the revered poet and spiritual figure, whose works continue to hold great significance in Indian culture.
