Some of the most highly anticipated movies and TV shows are coming to streamers in Canada in October. From the release of the Marvel Television series VisionQuest premiering on Disney+, to the Carrie series on Prime Video, and Yaga, starring Hudson Williams and Carrie-Anne Moss, being released on Crave.
Some old favourites are also returning this month. The Yellowstone spinoff Marshals is returning for Season 2, along with Dexter: ResurrectionSeason 2, both on Paramount+.
In the category of completely new titles, check out the Newfoundland-set and filmed show Below, starring Josh Hartnett, the Apple TV series Nocturne, the comedy Eternally Yours, from the team behind Ghosts, and the new legal drama Cupertino, both on StackTV.
For documentary lovers, The One About Matthew Perry will be released on Netflix in October, and Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Angerlands on Disney+.

Below — Oct. 8
Following its premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) earlier this month, Jesse McKeown’s series Belowarrives on Netflix in October.
Josh Hartnett plays Calvin, a fisherman who lives in a Newfoundland town. While he now has kids of his own, he’s still haunted by the death of his father when he was young.
In tying to keep his community and family safe, Calvin teams up with a marine researcher, played by Mackenzie Davis, to investigate a mysterious creature, exposing secrets of the island.
The One About Matthew Perry — Oct. 27
Netflix is releasing a documentary about Canadian Friends star Matthew Perry next month, a three-part series that features never-before-heard testimonies from Perry’s sister, Mia Perry Bowick, and his best friends.

Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger — Oct. 9
Oasis fans can dive deeper in the music reunion that became a global cultural phenomenon with Oasis: Don’t Look Back In Anger coming to Disney+ in Canada on Oct. 9. It includes never-before-seen footage, a joint interview with Noel and Liam Gallagher, and full performances of “Wonderwall,” “Slide Away,” “D’You Know What I Mean?” and “Half The World Away.”
VisionQuest — Oct. 14
Paul Bettany returns to the role of Vision in VisionQuest, Marvel Television’s new series that concludes the trilogy that began with WandaVisionin 2021, followed by Agatha All Along in 2024.
Vision has been rebooted, and we see him in both android and human form, consulting his embedded AI personas in his search for new meaning. James Spader reprises his role of Ultron, the antagonist now appearing in the flesh.

Carrie — Oct. 7
The brilliant Mike Flanagan has taken on Stephen King’s legendary story for a new Carrie series, premiering Oct. 7, following its world premiere at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).
Canadian actor Summer H. Howell plays Carrie White, the homeschooled teen who’s required to go to public high school after her father’s sudden death. When she arrives, Carrie’s faced with harsh bullies and their social media posts, which awakens this unexpected power inside of her.
The series also stars Samantha Sloyan, Siena Agudong, Joel Oulette, Josie Totah and Matthew Lillard, and was filmed in British Columbia.
Masterplan — Oct. 16
Stanley Tucci stars in Masterplan, a film that begins when a veteran thief is eying the Mona Lisa, recruiting two strangers to help him, Chiara, an Italian cybercrime expert, and Jay, a French explosives specialist. But the big reveal — they’re long-lost siblings and the thief is their father.

Matchbox The Movie — Oct. 9
Taking inspiration from the Mattel toys, Matchbox The Movie stars John Cena, Jessica Biel, Sam Richardson and Arturo Castro.
A group of friends have their lives upended when undercover CIA agent Sean (Cena) returns to their small town and gets them involved in “a frantic international pursuit to save the world.”
Nocturne — Oct. 30
One of the most exciting October releases is the drama series Nocturne, starring Liev Schreiber, Zazie Beetz and Stephen Graham.
Schreiber plays Jonah Lynn, a former soldier who became a homicide detective, who then sought out a quiet life in a small town in Western Pennsylvania. But instead, he’s faced with the threat of serial killer Jurek Walter (Graham), with Jonah having to send his surrogate daughter, FBI Agent Saga Bauer (Beetz), up against the killer.

What to watch on Crave: New TV shows and movies
Crystal Lake — Oct. 15
Crystal Lake, the prequel to the Friday the 13th franchise, follows single mother Pam Voorhees (Linda Cardellini), who still holds the grief of losing her son, Jason, after he drowned in the town lake. When two strangers arrive her door asking about her past, the people in Crystal Lake begin to question who Pam really is.
Yaga — Oct. 23
Based on the play by Kat Sandler, who’s the showrunner for the series, Yaga, starring Hudson Williams, Carrie-Anne Moss, Noah Reid and Clark Backo is one of the most highly-anticipated shows of the year.
A private investigator, Rapp (Noah Reid), has to work with a local detective, Carson (Clark Backo), to find answers after the heir to a powerful fishery, Henry Park (Williams), disappears.

Marshals, Season 2 — Oct. 5
The popular series Marshals returns for Season 2 on Oct. 5, as Kayce Dutton (Luke Grimes) faces the terrifying reality of his son, Tate (Brecken Merrill), being taken hostage, tied to the East Camp land grab.
Dexter: Resurrection, Season 2 — Oct. 30
Michael C. Hall is back as serial killer Dexter Morgan for Dexter: ResurrectionSeason 2, premiering Oct. 30. Dexter is caught between two rivals, a seasoned killer terrorizing New York, and a younger and “hungrier” threat, all while our title character is going through a midlife crisis. The cast also includes Uma Thurman and Jack Alcott.

Eternally Yours — Oct. 8
The talented minds behind the beloved comedy series Ghosts is giving us another show to enjoy, Eternally Yours, premiering Oct. 8.
Charles, played by Ed Weeks, and Liz, played by Allegra Edwards, are a vampire couple who have been together for 500 years, and their romance isn’t as passionate as it used to be. Living with their coven in present-day Seattle, things shift when their daughter’s human boyfriend forces them to confront the realities of their relationship.
The series also stars Jaren Lewison, Helen J Shen, Parker Young, Rose Abdoo, Tristan Michael Brown and Shylo Molina.
Cupertino — Oct. 8
The new legal drama Cupertino, starring Mike Colter and Rachel Keller, will premiere on Oct. 8, and it’s a show that will suck you right in.
Set in the heart of Silicon Valley, lawyer Michael Price (Colter) is cheated out of his stock options by his former tech start-up employer. He joins forces with another attorney fired by the company, Oli, to build their own firm and fight back against the people who wronged them. The series also stars Ella Stiller, Busy Philipps, Renée Elise Goldsberry and Nik Dodani

The anthology Bite Size Terror premieres Oct. 2, a collection short-form horror stories from the supernatural to occult tales, body horror and monsters.

Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma — Oct. 2
One of the best movies released all year is Jane Schoenbrun’s Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma, which will be available to stream on Oct. 2.
Starring Hannah Einbinder and Gillian Anderson, the film follows Kris (Einbinder), a queer director taking on her own movie in the fictional Camp Miasma franchise. And the one element she’s obsessed with is getting the film’s original “final girl,” Billy Presley (Anderson), in the film.
