Spider-Man has been Marvel’s most popular hero since he was first created back in 1962. After a radioactive spider bit Peter Parker, he went on to star in many different comic books, movies, TV <a href="https://comicvibe.com/prime-video-cancels-6-tv-shows-renews-14-series-in-2026/” title=”Prime Video Cancels 6 TV Shows, Renews 14 Series in 2026″>series, and video games. Throughout the years, fans have enjoyed no shortage of spectacular stories featuring the friendly neighborhood hero. The only downside is that it has now become a little tricky to reinvent the wheel and do something memorable with the character. This holds especially true in the comic book world, where a new issue of The Amazing Spider-Man is released almost on a weekly basis, and Sep. 30, 2026, just reinforced that idea.
Marvel was gearing up to release The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 1000, a monumental milestone in the hero’s history. For a time, it seemed this particular story would have huge implications for Peter Parker’s life, with the most accepted theory among fans being that Aunt May would die. After all, in the previous issue, readers learned that May had a stroke. To make matters worse, she promised Peter that she was “not going anywhere” before tragedy struck.
Fans were ready to witness a devastating moment or a shocking plot twist. After all, Marvel also promised that Spider-Man would face “his most frightening new villain in decades” in The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 1000. Unfortunately, the issue came out, and the general consensus is that nothing particularly memorable happens in it.

Spider-Man fans are disappointed about the hero’s 1000th issue
Perhaps the biggest problem with The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 1000 is how uneventful it is. Most of its main story features the wall-crawler fighting against the new bad guy in town, Ravage. Unfortunately, many fans had already theorized that this new antagonist would turn out to be Aunt May’s real son, Cormac Cane (whom Peter distrusted because he acted a little too perfectly around May, which definitely raised some eyebrows).
The issue featured no major reveals aside from the predictable villain twist, and it didn’t change the wall-crawler’s story in any major way. While that doesn’t automatically mean the comic is outright bad, it did fail to live up to the title Marvel put on it: “THE BIGGEST ISSUE IN AMAZING SPIDER-HISTORY!”
The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 1000 features plenty of side stories that are entertaining and make the reading experience all the more fun. However, the main narrative didn’t quite hit the mark, and fans have been vocal about their disappointment. A user on X (formerly Twitter) wrote, “I’m sorry, but this one was a mess. Not as bad as Issue #900, but it’s by far the second-worst centennial Spider-Man issue.” Another fan shared, “This did not feel like a celebration of 1000 issues of Spider-Man. The side stories were great, but the main story… what the hell.”
The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 1000 wasn’t even the most talked-about Marvel issue released on Sept. 30, 2026. That award was handed to Venom (2025) No. 262, in which Mary Jane dropped the Venom mantle and the symbiotic alien bonded with Eddie Brock instead, setting the stage for a brand-new Venom series.
There’s still a chance Aunt May bites the dust due to her stroke. Similarly, Ravage could end up becoming a memorable Spider-Man villain further down the line. However, none of those things happened in the pages of The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 1000, and given that there were no other memorable developments in the story, it’s easy to understand why fans are completely disappointed.
It seems the Ravage storyline will be followed up on until The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 1002, where we’ll finally learn why Cormac has superpowers. But for the time being, this new arc was off to a very underwhelming start.
The Amazing Spider-Man (2025) No. 1001 will be released on Oct. 14, 2026.
