Nerdcore rapper Wordburglar heading into space! Well… kinda, in his new song in partnership with Wandering Planet Toys and their latest action figure line.
The artist has released “Planetoid Raiders: Recorder’s Warning”, an original track creator for Planetoid Raiders, a line of retro-inspired science-fiction action figures that you can currently back on Kickstarter. Wordburglar’s involvement actually goes beyond just providing the third original track for the project. He has also getting his own limited-edition Planetoid Raiders action figure.
“If you’re on a planetoid you can’t avoid The Planetoid Raiders,” said the Wordburglar. “Wordburglar has travelled across the cosmos to rhyme the alarm bells with this intergalactically catchy cautionary tale full of strange star-beings, antisocial androids and klepto-terrestrials!”

For fans who have been following Wordburglar for many years, the collaboration makes perfect sense. The rapper has built a career blending hip-hop with comics, toys, science fiction, and other corners of nerd culture. He’s released tracks such as “SpaceVerse” and “Burgonomic” along with the G.I. Joe inspired concept album Welcome to Cobra island. He also created the theme song for the Mystic Cosmic Patrol web series and voiced Starscope in the animated series Transformers: BotBots.
“Wordburglar is the perfect artist to provide a track for the PLANETOID RAIDERS,” said Wandering Planet Toys co-founder Chris “Doc” Wyatt. “His playful and fast-paced music captures the imaginative spirit of these toys. With his clever wordplay and catchy cadence, the Wordburglar is the perfect ambassador for the Planetoid Raiders. And like Neal Adams, he talks in the third person. It’s pitch perfect.”
The first wave consists of 1:18-scale, five-point-articulated figures including Captain Oton, Helmsman Ryot, WarLord the mysterious space Travelor, the robot Yogun, and now RECORDER. The figures are available with retro-style card backs, while a collection package with the figures inside a metal lunchbox style case with artwork by horror artist Bill Rude is available as well.
The toy line has also grown into something closer to a small multimedia project. This new song by Wordburglar is now the third original song created for Planetoid Raiders, following a theme song by singer-songwriter Johnathan Pushkar, and elle EVA’s “Love Theme from Planetoid Raiders.”
Fans of the project can listen to “Planetoid Raiders: Recorder’s Warning” through Bandcamp and Youtube, and you can support Wave 1 of the action figures right now on Kickstarter
