Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte will be seen sharing screen space in Akka, YRF Entertainment’s upcoming period thriller. Ever since its first look was revealed, the series has been creating buzz and is rumoured to be all set for an OTT premiere later this year.
According to Movies Singapore, Akka is set to stream on Netflix from 30th October, 2026. Netflix and YRF Entertainment are yet to officially confirm the date of the premiere.
The 2026 release window is confirmed, and the series is listed as “Coming Soon” on the production house’s official page.
Set in the 1980s, Akka takes viewers to Pernuru, a fictional town in South India where women hold the centre of political, social and economic power.
At the heart of the town is a powerful sisterhood of women, the Akkas. They run a profitable underground gold smuggling network, maintaining their power through loyalty, fear and force.

The sisterhood also has an all-women army trained to protect its territory, wealth and influence.
When a mysterious outsider arrives with a personal vendetta, the carefully constructed power structure of Pernuru begins to fall apart.
The outsider doesn’t directly attack the Akkas; instead, he targets the cracks within their organisation, exploiting rivalries and internal tensions. As old alliances begin to break down, the fight becomes a broader fight for power, survival and revenge.
Netflix had earlier shared a teaser giving fans an insight into the world of Akka, with Keerthy Suresh leading the mighty sisterhood and Radhika Apte’s character trying to break its grip.
Keerthy Suresh, Radhika Apte Top the List
Akka stars Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte in lead roles, with Tanvi Azmi also in a pivotal role.
The series is Keerthy’s foray into the OTT space and brings together the two actors in a story of power, revenge and female-led criminal networks.
Dharmaraj Shetty has penned and directed, and this is his first project as a director. The series is produced by YRF Entertainment. Aditya Chopra, Yogendra Mogre and Akshaye Widhani are the associated producers.
The conflict of Akka takes place in a fictional matriarchal society and not in a typical crime drama setting. The series looks at what happens to a long-standing power structure when it comes under threat from within and outside its own boundaries.
The series’ period setting, women-led criminal power structures, and the face-off between Keerthy and Radhika have made it one of YRF Entertainment’s noteworthy upcoming streaming projects.
Keerthy Suresh Upcoming Movies
Keerthy Suresh continues to juggle projects across languages and formats. The actress has several films in various stages of production along with Akka. She is known for her recent work in Dorothy directed by Karthik Subbaraj and her upcoming projects include Rowdy Janardhana, Sathyavan Savithri and January 12 Vidudala.
