A new LEGO PlayStation set has been revealed in the form of an adorable Astro Bot gift-with-purchase, just days before the PlayStation set is due for release.
Team Asobi’s modern PlayStation mascot is joining the LEGO portfolio with 40899 Astro Bot. The 276-piece gift-with-purchase is now listed on the official online store, days before 72306 PlayStation is scheduled to be released.
The LEGO figure features multiple points of articulation, different eyes to change his expression, and a display stand to depict Astro Bot flying, falling, gliding, or another pose you desire.
Astro Bot has appeared in five games so far, celebrating the history of PlayStation and its various games as well as their characters. Astro’s Playroom from 2018 is included for free with the PlayStation 5, showcasing the console’s features. Before then, 2013’s The Playroom on PlayStation 4 debuted Astro Bot. 2016’s VR take on The Playroom also includes Astro Bot.
Astro Bot returned in 2018’s VR Rescue Mission game, before receiving a standalone title in 2024. That title has reportedly sold 4.3 million copies for an estimated revenue of $250 million.
This gift-with-purchase has been revealed days before 72306 PlayStation is released, celebrating the start of PlayStation’s Legacy. Astro Bot is one of the most recent developments from PlayStation’s history, contrasting the new set nicely.
72306 PlayStation is launching to LEGO Insiders starting October 1, before a wide release on October 4. The threshold and release window for 40899 Astro Bot have yet to be revealed, but we can only hope that it’s near the launch of the PlayStation set.
