FLINT, Mich.— The University of Michigan Flint’s Play Beyond Boundaries hosted a preview for the second comic based on Kaden Stevenson, who lost both of his legs to complications from the flu.

The second series of the comic book is called Kaden Blaze Meets the Flu Fightersand was produced by the non-profit Families Fighting Flu.
While Kaden was in the hospital, a five-year-old boy died from the flu and Kaden told his mom he must have superpowers because he survived.
He then told his mom he wanted to use his superpowers to save other kids from getting sick and the idea for Kaden Blaze was born.
The new comic follows Kaden as he realizes that there are other people who also fight the flu through vaccinations.
He also meets a fellow amputee who lost both of her legs to another vaccine preventable disease.
Kaden and the team of flu fighters are making sure to not let let another person get sick from the flu or other preventable illnesses.

Kaden has also helped other kids with his story. After his amputation, his mom asked people on social media to help retrofit his favorite superhero monster car toy.
Students at U-of-M Flint, with the help of professors, adapted Kaden’s car.
Since then, the Play Beyond Boundaries teams have adapted similar vehicles for 19 other local children living with a disability.
Kaden Blaze Meets the Flu Fighters has also been recognized by the Stan Lee Foundation.
