In the end, only one winner will have what it takes to earn Wonka’s life-changing prize.”
The prize in question is about about $3 million, which the show defines as a six-figure salary for 30 years. Wilder’s wife, Karen B. Wilder, <a href="https://people.com/wonkas-the-golden-ticket-season-1-release-schedule-12135094″ rel=”nofollow noopener” target=”_blank”>released a statement regarding the recreation on behalf of the Gene Wilder Estate. She said, “More than five decades after Gene brought Willy Wonka to life, people of all ages and backgrounds around the world continue to find joy, laughter and inspiration in his performance.”
She continued, “We are delighted that Wonka’s The Golden Ticket celebrates the warmth and imagination that he brought to the role, introducing that magic to a new generation while honoring the fans who have cherished it for decades.”
However, the setting is not the only thing that is reminiscent of the 1971 film. Rusty Goffe, who played an Oompa-Loompa in 1971’s Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory, appears with his son Ben Goffe in The Golden Ticket.
The show is set to have nine episodes in total as part of its first season. Seven episodes will debut on September 23, with the two-part finale following a week later.
