Middle-earth’s Shadow games finally hit Nintendo Switch 2 on September 30

If you’ve been waiting to play the Middle-earth Shadow games on a Nintendo console, the wait ends September 30. Aspyr has announced the Middle-earth: Shadow Bundle for Nintendo Switch 2, bringing both Shadow of Mordor (2014) and Shadow of War (2017) to a Nintendo platform for the very first time. Each game arrives in its complete edition — Game of the Year and Definitive Edition respectively — with all DLC included.

The bundle math

The bundle carries a standard price of $69.99, but a 50% pre-order discount drops it to $34.99 until launch. Here’s the catch: buying the games individually at pre-order prices costs exactly the same amount — $9.99 for Shadow of Mordor and $24.99 for Shadow of War, as GameRant confirms. The bundle delivers no actual savings over separate purchases during the pre-order window. If you only want one game, Nintendo Life recommends starting with Shadow of Mordor — it holds up better as a standalone experience.

One practical note for portable play: Shadow of War weighs in at 73GB, so make sure you have storage space ready. Shadow of Mordor‘s final download size hasn’t been confirmed yet.

What you’re actually getting

Both games are built around the Nemesis System — an AI-driven hierarchy of orc warlords who remember you, evolve based on your encounters, scheme against each other, and can even die and return. It’s the mechanic that made this series stand out, and it’s fully intact here.

Shadow of War originally locked some of its online features — Garrison included — behind a server connection. On Switch 2, Garrison works fully offline for the first time. Conquests and Vendettas remain unavailable, but the core game is unaffected.

Switch 2’s growing third-party lineup

This port is part of a wider push to fill out Switch 2’s library with established titles. Tropico 7 is coming to Switch 2 with a day-one Game Pass launch with a day-one Game Pass launch, while 007 First Light’s Switch 2 port slips to March 2027. The Shadow Bundle sits at the more complete end of the spectrum — no missing content, offline-friendly, and priced to compete with Steam sales that regularly discount both games below $20 combined. Whether that’s enough to justify the purchase depends entirely on whether you’ve already played them elsewhere.
