There’s an unexpected end coming for yet another Marvel series on Disney+, but at least in this case, Daredevil: Born Again made it to three seasons. That means Born Again gets just as many seasons as Daredevil did back when Netflix was in the Marvel business, but it’s still disappointing news for fans of the Charlie Cox series. Adding intrigue, a new report says showrunner Dario Scardapane has departed the series amid post-production on what’s now its final season.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, it’s because he’s no longer in collaboration with the studio: “Marvel has quietly parted ways with Scardapane, whose contract was up and was not renewed. The parting of ways is eyebrow-raising, as it means that Scardapane is exiting the show in the middle of post-production. It is unclear who will see the show through completion. One
As viewers will recall, Born Again had endured shake-ups following the Disney+ revival of the 2015-2018 Netflix production. After a delay due to the 2023 Hollywood strikes, the show underwent a thorough retooling that saw Scardapane and others brought in to replace a creative team that was already working on the first season.
That season, originally set for 18 episodes, was then split into a nine-episode first season and an eight-episode second season. Season two streamed earlier in 2026; a third season was announced last September.
As the trade points out, with Born Again now officially winding down, that leaves the Paul Bettany-starring VisionQuest as the only other upcoming Marvel live-action series on Disney+. VisionQuest arrives first (October 14), and Born Again season three should drop in 2027. No doubt Marvel will tease its future TV plans at some point, but that’s no consolation to disgruntled Wonder Man viewers.
