Persona took a few years to build a fan base, but the series absolutely exploded in popularity with Persona 5. Since that title’s release, Persona’s reach has grown by millions, and now everyone wants a piece of the pie. That includes Netflix, who is apparently teaming up with SEGA ATLUS for a special project.
According to Variety, Netflix will be releasing a live-action series based on Persona. Christopher Monfette is attached to write the adaptation in addition to serving as executive producer and showrunner. Monfette has written for shows like “12 Monkeys” at Syfy, “Star Trek: Picard” at Paramount+, and “9-1-1” for Fox & ABC. He is also writer and co-executive producer on the upcoming Marvel Disney+ series “VisionQuest.”
Shawn Levy, Dan Levine, and Robert Atwood of 21 Laps will also executive produce along with Dmitri M. Johnson, Michael Lawrence Goldberg, and Timothy I. Stevenson while Emily Feher is overseeing the project for 21 Laps
Unfortunately, there’s no details to share when it comes to specifics, so we don’t know if this will be a 1:1 adaptation of a particular installment, an amalgamation of entries or something brand-new. Hopefully those details become available soon alongside a cast list and more.
