The Sundog Festival of Arts and Culture, hosted by the Arts Council of the North Okanagan, returns to Polson Park in Vernon Friday and Saturday, Sept. 18 and 19.

The Sundog Festival is ready to shine in Polson Park tonight (Friday) and Saturday.
The music festival event kicks off Culture Days in B.C. and includes a final Polson Artisan Market with vendors and food trucks on both days as well, Friday 4 to 7:30 and Saturday 2 to 7:30.
“The ED (executive director) over at ACNO (Arts & Culture of the North Okanagan), namely Shawna Patenaude, has done a great job of working with a team to build up this festival over the past few years,” Polson Market’s Mayla Janzen boasts.
“There’s actually a bunch of things going on, so check out the website for more info, and plan to come down tonite and tomorrow to enjoy the festivities. Summer isn’t over quite yet.”
Day one of Sundog opens at 6 p.m. with a DJ Dance Night starting with Jodie B at 6:15 p.m., DJ Miss Demeanour at 7:45 and Sign of Sanctuary at 9.
Jodie B is a live-looping indie–folk–hip-hop artist known for her genre-blending sounds and magnetic performances. She has shared stages with Dub FX, The Pharcyde and Method Man and Redman.
Originally from Toronto, DJ Miss Demeanour is now an Okanagan-Shuswap resident who leans on funky house music with international flare. The trans artist is a lover of hip hop, funk, disco, synth-infused ’80s songs under EDM.
Kelowna’s Sign of Sanctuary is a rising teen metalcore band known for high-energy shows and heavy breakdowns.
Day two’s lineup starts with a welcoming ceremony at 2:20, followed by All My Relations, Drunken Bulls at 3, a Breakthrough Martial Art demonstration at 3:30, T>G & JByrd at 4, Seth Spotted Eagle performing at 4:45, Siibii at 5:15, a Dragon Spirit Tai Chi demonstration at 6, Locarno at 6:30, Queer as Funk at 7:45, DJ Miss Demeanour at 8:30 and the night ends with the Lemon Bucket Orkestra at 9.
The headliners are Toronto’s original Slavic brass punks and award-winning crew who have performed around the world.
Festival attendees who are driving are encouraged to arrive early and use designated parking areas in and around Polson Park. There is free parking available at city hall after 5 p.m. on Friday and all day on Saturday for the Sundog Festival.
A bike and e-scooter valet is available at the festival, and attendees are encouraged to carpool and use alternate forms of transportation to get to the event.

Increased pedestrian, cycling and vehicle traffic is expected in and around Polson Park during festival hours.
Motorists travelling through the area are reminded to use caution and watch for increased pedestrian and cycling activity.
Cultural celebrations don’t stop this weekend. Vernon Culture Days continues until Oct. 4 with 40 different free community events.
