Salman Khan used the latest Weekend Ka Vaar episode of Bigg Boss 20to call out the culture of trolling, age-shaming and body-shaming on social media. The actor addressed the housemates about how people often target celebrities over their weight, looks, family, professional failures and even personal milestones. His remarks have now sparked speculation among netizens, with many believing that he was indirectly defending Katrina Kaif, who has recently faced trolling over her postpartum appearance.
Salman Khan addresses body shaming trolls
During the episode, Salman spoke about how trolling has become commonplace, particularly when it comes to a celebrity’s appearance. He pointed out that people are quick to comment on someone’s age, weight, looks, smile or career setbacks, adding that such behaviour reflects more about the person making the comments than the celebrity being targeted.
“In every show, this age has become suddenly, ‘woh budha hogaya hai’. What do you want to troll? Uske wajan par, uske looks par, uske khaandaan par, kisi ke smile par, kisi ke flop par, kisi ke maa banne par, aap apni upbringing dikha rahe ho,” Salman said.
Netizens interprets it was for Katrina Kaif
The actor also acknowledged that he himself has been subjected to age-related trolling. Addressing the comments about his age, Salman said, “Of course 60 saal ka hogaya hu yaar.” His comments came as part of a larger conversation about the tendency to mock celebrities for things that are often beyond their control.
While Salman did not mention Katrina by name, his reference to trolling someone “kisi ke maa banne par” caught the attention of social media users. Katrina, who recently attended the Ambanis’ Ganpati celebrations with husband Vicky Kaushal, has been subjected to online comments about herpostpartum weight gain. The actress has not publicly responded to the trolling.
Soon after the promo surfaced, several netizens connected Salman’s remarks to the criticism faced by Katrina. One user wrote that Salman was defending Katrina, while another claimed that the actor was “indirectly addressing” the criticism against her. Another social media user praised him for taking a stand against trolling related to appearance, profession, body weight and age.
Salman also went shirtless in the episode while calling out the trolls who constantly commented on his looks. He called them out and revealed the real reason behind his bald look. At first he said its for the movie, later shared, ‘Real reason is that a friend of mine passed away two months ago. And these people comment that he’s doing hair transplant and all.’
