Netflix has announced TYSON, a four-part documentary series examining the life and career of the legendary boxer. The series will premiere on October 13 and will feature interviews with Tyson, along with people who have known and worked with him throughout his life.
Tyson became the youngest heavyweight champion in boxing history at age 20 and went on to become the undisputed world heavyweight champion from 1987 to 1990. His career also included major controversies and personal struggles, which will form part of the documentary’s examination of his legacy.
The series comes after Netflix’s Hulk Hogan: Real American, a four-part documentary about the late WWE Hall of Famer. The series explores Hogan’s rise from Terry Bollea to one of wrestling’s biggest stars and features his final interview before his death in July 2025.
Netflix has also released Untold Mr. T: I Pity The Fool, a documentary exploring the life of the actor and WWE legend. Mr. T became a major part of WWE history when he teamed with Hulk Hogan in the main event of the first WrestleMania before competing against Roddy Piper in a boxing match at WrestleMania 2.
Mike Tyson’s life and career take center stage in new Netflix docuseries
TYSON will explore the boxer’s upbringing in Brooklyn, New York, his rapid rise to global fame and the personal experiences that followed his success.
The documentary will also examine the darker periods of Tyson’s life, including his incarceration, financial difficulties, substance abuse and controversies inside the boxing ring.
“Most people are too scared to look at their lives objectively, wanting to paint themselves as the hero of their own story,” Tyson said. “But if we are truly objective, we know we can never be the hero in our own story.”
Tyson’s story also has a significant connection to professional wrestling. He first became involved with WWE in 1998, appearing on Monday Night Raw before becoming part of the build to WrestleMania XIV.
Tyson was initially presented as an ally of D-Generation X and Shawn Michaels. He eventually served as the special ringside enforcer for Michaels’ WWE Championship match against Stone Cold Steve Austin at WrestleMania XIV.
When referee Mike Chioda was knocked out during the match, Tyson counted the pinfall that made Austin WWE Champion. He then knocked out Michaels with a right hand after the match.
Tyson returned to WWE in 2010 as the guest host of Monday Night Raw. He competed in his first WWE match that night, teaming with Chris Jericho against Shawn Michaels and Triple H before turning on Jericho and siding with DX.
Tyson was later inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2012, cementing his place in the company’s history.
His connection to wrestling has remained part of his broader pop-<a href="https://comicvibe.com/music-festivals-committed-to-entertainment-and-culture-in-mexico/” title=”Music festivals committed to entertainment and culture in Mexico”>culture legacy, but TYSON will focus primarily on the life of the man behind the boxing persona.
