Tenn. (WMC) – A man is in custody after allegedly shooting a buyer during an online sale gone wrong in a store parking lot, according to investigators
Shelby County deputies responded to reports of a shooting around 4:30 p.m. on August 29 at the AutoZone on North Houston Levee Road. Witnesses reported seeing two vehicles park side-by-side in the lot just minutes before gunfire erupted.
According to an affidavit, the victim had already been taken by private vehicle to Methodist Olive Branch Hospital with a gunshot wound to his shoulder.
Detectives spoke with the victim at the hospital, where he explained he had arranged to purchase a PlayStation 5 and showed investigators a Cash App transaction confirming he had paid $465. However, after sending the payment, the seller refused to turn over the console.
The victim told investigators that when he tried to retrieve the gaming system from the vehicle, the seller, identified by authorities as Robert Tucker, pulled out a handgun. As the victim reached toward the vehicle again, Tucker allegedly fired approximately four shots, striking him in the shoulder.
Investigators traced the Cash App transaction, which was initially sent under the name “Jake Tucker,” back to Robert Tucker. Records show Tucker was already out on bond for criminal attempt second-degree murder in connection with a 2023 incident, in which he was accused of shooting an aggressive customer who demanded a refund while Tucker worked at City Gear.

The victim later identified Tucker in a six-person photo lineup.
Tucker is charged with especially aggravated robbery. He is being held without bond and is scheduled to appear in court Tuesday.
