Superstar Rajinikanth has showered praises on Soori’s latest film Mandaadi and has personally called up the actor after watching the film.
Soori took to social media to share the special moment and said it meant a lot to him and the entire team that Rajinikanth appreciated their work. Soori shared a picture from their conversation and called the call a ‘priceless moment’. He said that the Superstar’s words felt like a blessing.
The appreciation comes shortly after Mandaadi hit theatres on September 10. Directed by Mathimaran Pugazhendhi, the film is set against the backdrop of traditional sailing boat races along the Tamil Nadu coastline.
Soori plays the titular character, a team leader involved in the intense racing competition.
The film is said to have had major production problems because of the many sea sequences. The team shot on the water for nearly two months on large-scale sequences with boats and open sea locations. A production boat capsized during the shoot, causing loss of equipment and more delays.
Mandaadi is another important outing in Soori’s transition from one of the popular comedians and supporting actors in Tamil cinema to a leading man. He had a major career breakthrough with Vetri Maaran’s Viduthalai Part 1 and went on to play lead roles in films like Garudan and Maaman.
Soori’s colleagues in the industry have also liked the film. After its release Sivakarthikeyan and Vishnu Vishal congratulated him. Sivakarthikeyan especially praised him for his hard work, persistence and dedication.
Mandaadi also stars Soori, Suhas, Mahima Nambiar, Sathyaraj, Mithun Jai Sankar, Ravindra Vijay, Bala Saravanan and Stun Siva. GV Prakash Kumar is composing the music for the film. SR Kathir is handling the cinematography and Pradeep E Ragav is the editor. The action sequences were choreographed by Peter Hein, Dhilip Subbarayan and Mahesh Mathew.
Now, Mandaadi is continuing to run in theaters and boat-racing sequences and Soori’s performance have become major talking points.
