Teddy explains incompetence to Isagi
According to the plot leaks, the chapter is titled “Feelings of Incompetence.” Teddy explains the concept of incompetence to Isagi and asks if he has ever felt like a worthless human. Isagi replies that he has, but you have to recognize your strengths and keep fighting, which is what it really means to be a soccer player. However, Teddy suggests that believing hard work will ultimately reward people or that their dreams will come true is a lie. He says only a handful of individuals become successful, while others live with the lie.
Teddy reveals the true mindset of England players
He says Isagi telling others to bring out the egoist in them is what arrogant, strong people think is easy. Teddy describes himself as weak and says he can’t become an egoist, even if he tries. He reveals that, like him, all the other players on the England team are incompetent on their own. He says Fox is the savior who will help them let go of their ego and become soldiers to win the World Cup.
Isagi learns England players have no ego
Teddy adds that Agi was substituted because he didn’t fit their mindset, since he could fight on his own. Isagi finally understands that the England players are people who can give their everything to Fox to win the World Cup. He realizes his opponents have the ego to set themselves aside for someone else. Teddy says Fox is the only way an incompetent like him can beat a capable player like Isagi.
Isagi targets Fox
Isagi finally doubts whether his team is screwed; if any players like Agi emerge, they’ll just be substituted for new ones. Japan tries to counter-attack with Yukimiya Kenyu leading the charge. Kenyu passes the ball to Hiori, who crosses it to Shidou, but England immediately intervenes. Isagi says their attack will have no effect, as England has already adapted to it using their instructions. He concludes that they don’t need to defeat Teddy or any other player, but Fox, who needs to be stopped.
