Hiroaki Sakurai directs STUDIO fu’s adaptation of the popular Korean webcomic in which a weak F-ranker gains a rare S-rank skill he activates by dying; Takeo Otsuka and Satoshi Hino lead the cast.
The climb begins this January. Crunchyroll has announced an anime adaptation of “SSS-Class Revival Hunter,” the popular Korean webcomic and web novel. The anime series, SSS-Class Revival Hunter, premieres in January 2027, streaming on Crunchyroll worldwide excluding Asia, with availability in the Indian subcontinent, Indonesia, Singapore, the Philippines and Malaysia. A first teaser trailer, key visual, cast and staff arrived with the announcement.
In the story, a mysterious tower crawling with monsters has suddenly appeared, drawing Hunters willing to risk their lives for glory and riches. Gongja Kim, a weak F-rank Hunter, spends his days envying the Flame Emperor, who reigns as the top Hunter. His chance at greatness finally arrives when he joins forces with the Sword Emperor and gains a rare S-rank skill, with one catch: he must die to activate it.
The teaser and visual offer a glimpse at the beginning of Gongja’s journey, a bottom-ranked hunter looking on enviously at those who have reached the top, a mysterious card glowing with light above him and the Sword Emperor watching silently from behind.
Takeo Otsuka voices Gongja Kim, with Satoshi Hino as the Sword Emperor. Hiroaki Sakurai directs, with a script by Sayuri Oba and character designs by Takahiro Yoshimatsu; STUDIO fu produces the animation.
The webcomic is available on Tapas and KakaoPage.
Dan Sarto is Publisher and Editor-in-Chief of Animation World Network.
