Third Eat-Man anime adaptation is in the works, with original mangaka on board as scriptwriter
Akihito Yoshitomi is writing the scripts for the first Eat-Man anime to be created since the manga ended.

It has been nearly 25 years since the Eat-Man manga ended, but it sounds like we’re finally getting the anime adaptation we’ve been waiting for. After two previous anime based on Akihito Yoshitomi’s classic sci-fi manga, this could be the first faithful adaptation of the Eat-Man manga we’ve ever had.
The original Eat-Man manga ran from 1996 to 2003. It was popular enough that it had two anime adaptations during its run. The first came in 1997 and the second came just a year later in 1998. Astute readers will note that both of these anime came very early in the manga’s run, meaning that they both couldn’t adapt the series’ ending. From 2014 to 2019, a sequel manga, Eat-Man: The Main Dish, was published.
This week, a new Eat-Man anime was announcedwith original mangaka Akihito Yoshitomi serving as scriptwriter. Eat-Man: The Over Order has the potential to be the first faithful adaptation of the Eat-Man manga.
Eat-Man follows the mercenary Bolt Crank, who has the unusual ability to eat almost any non-organic object and reproduce it from his body. It makes him particularly skilled and unpredictable as he travels between a shockingly diverse set of lands. The series was largely episodic, with Bolt Crank going to cyberpunk, sci-fi, and fairy tale-themed lands to solve problems, usually by eating something weird.
No release date for the new Eat-Man anime has been announced. Studio Cab will be animating the new series, and Masashi Ebara, the voice actor who played Bolt Crank in the first two anime adaptations, is returning.
