Law & Order Season 25 finally lands on Netflix just weeks before the franchise shakes up its iconic lineup. The long-running procedural’s latest season joins the streamer with a new cast addition and a notable crossover catch for fans.
Law & Order Season 25 to stream on Netflix this month
Law & Order Season 25 will begin streaming on Netflix on September 25, 2026. With this addition, the season joins Seasons 21 through 24, which already stream on the platform. The 21-episode season originally aired on NBC from September 25, 2025, through May 14, 2026.
Notably, the season starred Reid Scott, Maura Tierney, Hugh Dancy, Odelya Halevi, and Tony Goldwyn in returning roles. Meanwhile, David Ajala joined the cast as series regular Detective Theo Walker starting with the seventh episode. His casting followed the departure of Mehcad Brooks, who played Detective Jalen Shaw for three seasons.
Ajala described joining the 35-year-old franchise as a meaningful experience. “There is something very, very special about being part of this franchise,” he told NBC Insider. Before this role, he previously played Cleveland Booker on Paramount+’s Star Trek: Discovery.
The season finale centered on the murder of a military hero and a potentially corrupt judge. Additionally, it explored rising political pressure during D.A. Baxter’s reelection campaign. However, the Netflix release will not include one half of a crossover with SVU. Instead, the SVU episode from the two-part event streams exclusively on Peacock.
Looking ahead, Season 26 will premiere on Thursday, October 8, at 10 p.m. ET on NBC. As a result, the show moves to a later time slot this season, now following SVU at 9 p.m. Furthermore, Reid Scott will depart the show ahead of the new season. Series creator Dick Wolf reflected on the franchise’s longevity in September 2025. “I woke up the other day and realized, ‘My God, it’s been 35 years since the start of Law & Order,'” Wolf said.
