Zac Efron is soarin’, flyin’ through summer.
The High School Musical alum shared a rare glimpse into his private life, posting photos and videos from a recent trip to California’s Lake Nacimiento with his younger brother Dylan Efron.
One snapshot posted to Instagram Sept. 10 showed the siblings baring their washboard abs on the back of a boat, while Zac, 38, rode the waves on a small surfboard in another image. In a third photo, theIron Clawstar and Dylan, 34, soaked up the sun with friends.
While Zac captioned his post with a peace sign emoji, Dylan—who shared similar pictures from the lake getaway—wrote on his own Instagram, “Taking it easy.”
Indeed, Zac has been breaking free away from spotlight, making just a handful of public appearances in recent years. That’s why when he made his long-awaited entry into the Dancing With the Stars ballroom in November to support his brother, it “meant everything” to Dylan.
“I grew up watching him do stuff like this,” the Traitors winner told E! News at the time, “so the fact that he’s now watching me do this is crazy to me.”
So, what has Zac been doing during his downtime? Building a sustainable home in Australia, which he’s enlisted designer Joost Bakker to create primarily out of cannabis plants.
“I’ve lived just about everywhere you can for several months or even years at this point,” Zac told theAustralian Financial Review in December. “And I think if I had to look back at my whole life and think where do I ultimately want to end up, every time I go to Joost’s I have a sense of ‘this is actually what I want in life.'”
“It just seems right,” he continued of his dream house, which sits on 128-hectare (about 316-acre) of land near the New South Wales and Queensland. “Like, that’s the way it should be done.”
