Country music star Ernest reconnected with his faith after taking a step back from the spotlight.
The “Gettin’ Gone” singer, whose full name is Ernest Keith Smith, checked in with his fans on social media Tuesday, weeks after dropping out of Ella Langley’s The Dandelion Tour.
Ernest, 27, admitted on Instagram he was “lost” and actively searching for answers in life but was grateful for the people who stood beside him with “love and support.”

“Bottom line is I was LOST… i recon I still am … but the search is on…. And that’s new to me,” he shared on Instagram with a carousel of images.
“If anything, through this time, I am really starting to touch back in with my relationship with God… growing up in the church / Christian school, I would say I got a bit burnt out on it all.”

Ernest recognized that he spent “too long” relying “on my own (dumba–) way and thinking I can outsmart my better judgment [sic].”
“That’s not the case…. I don’t have many answers at all…. But I do know where it’s starting…. A dialogue with something greater than ME,” he wrote.
“I can’t define it and don’t know if anyone really can… I just know that I have a beautiful life, family and friends that deserve me at my best. I deserve that for me too.”

Last month, the country music singer announced he was dropping out of Langley’s tour to focus on his health.
“The road has been dragging me down in a bad way,” he shared on social media. “From mental to physical health. I am going away for a couple of weeks to get myself and my priorities back in order.

Langley has yet to address Ernest’s absence on tour. The artists collaborated on her “Loving Life Again” hit, which he co-wrote with Devin Dawson.
