Uh oh. Steam achievement lists for a smorgasbord of unreleased and unannounced PC games appear to have leakedler Stranger Than Heaven, and Thief: The Dark Project Remastered have all seemingly had their trophies blabbed by the leak, with more imminent releases like Control Resonant, Silent Hill: Townfall, and Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve also affected
The lists have surfaced on third-party achievement tracking site Exophase, with Gematsu having compiled a list of upcoming games whose alleged trophies have been splashed up on the net. In a post on ResetEra, Exophase owner Mike Bendel – who goes by the handle x3sphere – claimed that the incident “seems like a possible screw up on Valve’s end.”
“A bunch of games with achievements that should be private are accessible through the API right now and that’s why they got scanned into the site,” he continued. “I usually never see games without an actual name pop up with achievements, yet over the past hour or so a bunch have (when there’s an unknown name we just set it to the AppID).”
I’ve reached out to Valve for comment.
If you do decide to peruse the achievement lists, beware that doing so risks the strong possibility of running into major spoilers. This appears to be particularly worth bearing in mind for the lists of Persona 6, Kingdom Hearts 4, and Mega Man: Dual Override, but as I’ve discovered in my browsing, is even a risk with the likes of driving game Clutch.
Having glanced through some of the lists looking for non-spoilery info, I’ve spotted that Fable tooks to have an achievement dubbed “Cost of Living Crisis”, Ken Levine’s Judas currently only has a sample trophy for getting 10 kills (at which point we must assume the game ends), and Stranger Than Heaven doesn’t appear to offer a trophy for romancing the resurrected corpse of Tupac.
The latter, though, does look to have an achievement for having smoked 20 or more of your own hand-rolled cigarettes.
