It has officially been a decade since Netflix launched in South Africa back in 2016. To celebrate the massive milestone, the streamer has just pulled back the curtain on a robust upcoming slate of local films and series at a press showcase in Rosebank, Johannesburg.

Over the last ten years, Netflix has become a global launchpad for South African storytelling. To date, the platform has showcased over 300 local titles (including global smash hits like The Polygamist and Blood & Water), filmed across 20 cities, and supported more than 8,000 jobs through partnerships with over 30 local production companies.

Ben Amadasun, VP of Content for Netflix Middle East and Africa, celebrated the milestone: “Ten years ago, we set out to share South African stories and voices with the world and today, we are proud to strengthen our partnership with the local creative industry… Our slate ahead keeps that ambition alive with the addition of established names alongside bold new production partners.”

To cap off the celebrations, Netflix has launched a dedicated row on the platform titled ‘A Decade In Africa: Worth Every Watch’. Running from September through December 2026 across Sub-Saharan Africa, the curated hub will feature fan-favorite local series, films, and iconic global titles featuring African talent.

To mark the occasion, Netflix has provided What’s on Netflix, among others, with a first look at the next wave of South African content heading to your screens in 2026 and beyond. Here is a breakdown of all the new series, film sequels, and reality shows just announced!

    Coming Soon to Netflix

    Blood Legacy (Season 2)

    Release Date: September 25, 2026

The Ndlovu family is back, and the stakes have never been higher. Following the explosive first season, the family’s power, business, and survival are under threat once again as secrets about the origins of their empire bubble to the surface.

Cast: Xolile Tshabalala, Buyile Mdladla, Mike Ndlangamandla, Thembi Nyandeni, Amanda Seome, Dineo Rasedile, Anthony Oseyemi, Enhle Mbali Mlotshwa, and more.

How to Ruin Diwali: Meet The Parents

    Release Date: October 30, 2026

The fan-favorite How to Ruin franchise is expanding! This time, Burnt Onion Productions is teaming up with Urban Vision and producer Jayan Moodley (The Kandasamys) for a fresh cultural spin-off. Overachieving perfectionist Mmabatho Nkomo meets her fiancé’s traditional Indian family, but her attempts to impress go up in flames when she accidentally exposes her future father-in-law’s secret affair just days before Diwali. Expect plenty of familial chaos and endless laughs.

Cast: Rosemary Zimu-Mnguni, Kyle Clark, Jailoshini Naidoo, Koobeshen Naidoo, Sonia Mbele, Meshack Mavuso, and more.

    Another Disaster Holiday

    Release Date: December 11, 2026

Directed by Rethabile Ramaphakela, this hilarious sequel follows Joseph Ngema as he prepares to become a dad again at fifty. Desperate to prove he’s still father of the year, Joseph uses a romantic Sun City babymoon with his pregnant partner Nandi as a cover to crash his children’s holiday with his ex-wife Dora. The catch? Dora has a hot new younger boyfriend (played by Kay Sibiya) stealing his thunder.

    Love Is Blind: South Africa

Release Date: Coming Soon in 2026

The pods are officially open in South Africa! While we already knew the hit global social experiment was getting a local spin-off, Netflix has officially revealed that celebrated power couple Dineo and Zothile ‘Solo Ntsizwa’ Langa will be hosting the highly anticipated first season.

    Seriously Single Too

Release Date: Coming Soon in 2026

Dineo and Noni are back, but their friendship is on thin ice. Directed by Rethabile and Katleho Ramaphakela, this buddy comedy sequel turns a wild Cape Town bachelorette getaway into a disastrous chain of events that pushes the now-estranged friends to the brink.

Cast: Fulu Modibedi, Tumi Morake, Buntu Petse, Keke Mphuthi, Yonda Thomas, and Thabiso Rammusi.

    Tuiskoms (Season 2)

Cast: Amalia Uys, Kim Syster, Jane de Wet, Clint Brink, and Armand Aucamp.

Stars and Vows: Anele & Buzza

Release Date: Coming Soon in 2026

If you love a good wedding docu-soap, this is for you. This new unscripted special follows TV and radio personality Anele Mdoda and Bonelela “Buzza James” Mgudlwa as they navigate the joys, pressures, and fame leading up to them saying “I do.”

Titles Currently in Production & New Deals

Netflix isn’t slowing down anytime soon. The streamer also teased several titles currently filming, as well as a slew of new overall partnerships:

    • Marked (Season 2): The heist thriller created by Akin Omotoso, Sydney Dire, and Steven Pillemer is officially in production. Season 2 will see Babalwa sink deeper into the criminal underworld. Expected to return in 2027, per reports.
    • Meet The Khumalos 2: Also in production is the comedy sequel directed by Jayan Moodley, bringing back the family chaos with an unforgettable road trip and an engagement hanging by a thread.
    • New Production Partnerships: Netflix confirmed a new scripted series is on the way from The Bomb Shelter Film Productions, alongside a massive multi-title partnership with Tshedza Pictures spanning four scripted series. BrightFire is also developing a brand-new dating reality show.
