JioHotstar has officially expanded beyond India, launching its streaming service in the United Kingdom, Canada and Singapore on September 2. The international rollout marks a major step for the platform as it takes its Indian entertainment catalogue to audiences across three overseas markets.
The service brings a library of more than 1,60,000 hours of entertainment, covering films, television shows, regional programming, reality content, children’s entertainment and anime. The catalogue is available across more than 12 languages, with the platform also planning to add over 30,000 hours of new content every year.
Three New Markets Open Up JioHotstar’s Global Reach
JioHotstar is available on smartphones and connected TVs in the UK, Canada and Singapore. Users can download the app through the Apple App Store and Google Play Store in all three markets.
The platform is offering quarterly and annual subscription options in each country. In the UK, the quarterly plan is priced at £19.99, while the annual subscription costs £69.99. In Canada, users can choose between a C$19.99 quarterly plan and a C$49.99 annual plan. Singapore customers will pay S$29.98 for three months or S$69.98 for a year.
| Market | Quarterly Plan | Annual Plan |
|---|---|---|
| UK | £19.99 | £69.99 |
| Canada | C$19.99 | C$49.99 |
| Singapore | S$29.98 | S$69.98 |
The quarterly subscription is a new option introduced across all three international markets.
Existing Hotstar Users Can Continue Without a Break
JioHotstar has also made the transition easier for existing Hotstar customers. Users with existing accounts can continue using their current login credentials and will be moved to equivalent JioHotstar plans without an interruption to their service.
In the UK, customers who currently have active monthly subscriptions can continue with those plans as long as automatic renewal remains enabled.
Android users in the three countries will also have the option to subscribe directly through the app, giving them a simpler way to complete the sign-up process.
Indian Stories Meet Global Audiences
A major part of JioHotstar’s international offering is its focus on Indian-language entertainment. The platform is introducing subtitles and dubbing across multiple languages, including English, Hindi, Gujarati, Malayalam, Kannada and Marathi.
The approach is aimed at making Indian content accessible to both the South Asian diaspora and international viewers interested in Indian-language films, series and entertainment.
The global catalogue includes popular originals and series such as Criminal Justice, Special Ops, Chiraiya, Pritam & Pedro, Asur, Aarya, Heartbeat, Vikram on Duty and Kaattaan.
The entertainment lineup also features reality programmes including Koffee with Karan, Bhojpuri Bawaal, Khatron Ke Khiladi, MTV Hustle, Splitsvilla and Roadies.
Movies, Originals and Reality Shows Join the Lineup
Movie offerings on the platform include titles such as Vaazha, Dhurandhar, Chhichhore, Kesari Chapter 2, 12th Fail and Jab We Met.
JioHotstar is also preparing new original titles for international audiences. These include Ali Baba Aur Chaalis Bhoot, Prince of Mollywood, Part Timers and The Court, which are scheduled to release globally.
The platform’s international expansion therefore goes beyond simply making its existing library available overseas. It also brings together films, scripted series, reality entertainment and upcoming original programming in one streaming service.
Anil Kapoor to Host a New Game Show in Canada and Singapore
JioHotstar is also introducing a new game show format in Canada and Singapore titled India Ka Top 1 Percent. The programme will be hosted by actor Anil Kapoor.
Alongside its on-demand content, the platform will give viewers in the three new markets access to JioStar television channels. These include Star Plus, Colors, Star Vijay, Asianet, Star Jalsha and Star Pravah.
The international launch gives JioHotstar a wider platform to take Indian entertainment to audiences outside the country while combining regional storytelling, multilingual access and a growing catalogue under a single streaming service.
The expansion also reflects JioStar’s broader international focus. The company has been strengthening its entertainment presence across overseas markets, with the JioHotstar launch extending its digital streaming offering to viewers in the UK, Canada and Singapore.
