It’s back to school season, and apparently that also applies to the wizarding world.
HBO released the second teaser trailer for “Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” on Wednesday ahead of its Christmas premiere.

This is the second trailer after the first debuted in March, but this one gives fans an even closer look at the Hogwarts set.
The trailer starts off with Professor Minerva McGonagall (played by Janet McTeer) taking the first-year students into the Great Hall for the annual sorting ceremony. She introduces the three main protagonists of the series: Hermione Grainer (Arabella Stanton), Ron Weasley (Alastair Stout) and Harry Potter (Dominic McLaughlin).
During the introductions, there are clips from the series of all three characters. Viewers see Hermione on the Hogwarts Express, the Weasley family at their dining room table and then Harry picking up the sorting hat as Professor Albus Dumbledore (John Lithgow) watches intently.

The trailer continues with the start-of-term feast, as food magically appears out of the dining tables for all students. There are some cut scenes of Harry’s first experiences at school, including discussions with teachers, clips from various classes and shenanigans inside the Gryffindor Tower.
Fans also got a first look at Harry on the Quidditch pitch while being antagonized by Professor Severus Snape (Paapa Essiedu). Other iconic moments from J.K. Rowling’s first book shown in the trailer include the boys playing Wizard’s Chess, Harry donning his father’s Invisibility Cloak and Harry looking at his parents in the magical Mirror of Erised.
“Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone” will premiere on Christmas, Dec. 25, 2026, on HBO Max. One episode will drop each week with eight episodes planned for the first season. Filming is already underway for the second season, which will follow Rowling’s second book, “Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets.”
