Fans descended upon Irvine, California on Saturday for a brand new festival to benefit a great cause. The Daisy Chain Fields Festival was a show that featured female artists with the goal of raising money for various charities. Pop star Olihappell Roan, Doechii, Garbage, Mitski, Bikini Kill and more

Iconic singers Sarah MacLachlan and Stevie Nicks also made appearances with Rodrigo.

After all the performing was done, however, the most important part emerged: what money they were able to raise. Through donations, ticket sales and waived performance fees — all the artists went without pay for the show — $10 million was raised for 10 nonprofit organizations. That amount was then matched by Melinda French Gates, bringing the total to an impressive $20 million raised.

The organizations helped were Baby2Baby, Black Mamas Matter Alliance, Center for Reproductive Rights, FreeFrom, Jhpiego, Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health, National Domestic Workers Alliance, National Institute for Reproductive Health, National Women’s Law Center and Planned Parenthood.

An impactful first year, to say the least.
