Fraport Ground Services GmbH has incorporated Draxon virtual reality training into its initial training program for ramp agents at Frankfurt Airport.
New ramp employees now complete standardized VR training scenarios before beginning work around <a href="https://comicvibe.com/surprise-free-live-tv-is-coming-to-playstation-5/” title=”Surprise! Free Live TV Is Coming To PlayStation 5″>live aircraft. The technology supplements classroom instruction and hands-on practical training rather than replacing either component.
Fraport Ground Services has used VR in ramp training since 2018 and developed its first three VR training modules in-house in 2019. Through Draxon, the company now has access to a maintained library of training scenarios based on IATA Airport Handling Manual 1110 and IATA Ground Operations Manual procedures.
“Every trainee goes through exactly the same scenarios at exactly the same quality, whether they start in January or July. That consistency is what raises safety across the operation,” said Dr. Markus Kleiner, managing director of Fraport Ground Services.
The approach is designed to give new employees repeatable exposure to ramp procedures and situations in a controlled environment before they encounter them during live operations.
Draxon said its VR training platform is now under contract with ground handlers and airports at 10 airports in German-speaking countries, including Frankfurt, Munich, Düsseldorf, Berlin, Cologne, Nuremberg, Hanover, Vienna, Zurich and Geneva.
“A trainee in Frankfurt and a trainee in Vienna now learn the same procedures in the same order, to the same standard,” said Paul Schwarzenholz, founder and CEO of Draxon. “That is what a maintained library does for an operation, and it is the part no single handler wants to build again for every station.”
