I don’t think we need to worry about Zenless Zone Zero since it’s already made nearly $100 million since its launch a month ago, but it’s definitely not MiHoYo’s best.
MiHoYo’s latest foray into mobile gaming, Zenless Zone Zero, started strong last month, raking in $25 million in less than a week. Well, it’s been over a week now, four actually, so just one question: How much money have you made in total now? The game brought in about $100 million, according to Gacha Revenue, which tracks revenue for various mobile games. That’s based on Chinese consumers, which accounted for the bulk of the total revenue, just under $69 million, and then Japan and the rest of the world totaled $31 million.

That’s obviously nothing to sneer at, but compared to Genshin Impact , which made nearly $250 million in its first month, it wasn’t a nearly as strong launch. This appears to be part of MiHoYo’s ongoing decline in circulation, as Honkai Impact took in $130 million in its first month. Still better than Zenless Zone Zero, but again only half of what Genshin Impact achieved. But that doesn’t mean we have to worry about any one game (and not just because it’s really a lot of money).
Genshin Impact may be a special case considering it was released in October 2020, when many people were still stuck at home due to the COVID-19 pandemic and gaming spending was increasing across the board. Since then, spending has dropped significantly, partly because lockdowns are no longer an issue, but also due to various economic difficulties in many areas. But again, to be clear, these games are printing money, so you don’t need to panic.
