The Witcher 4 is almost certainly still years away, but if you’re a fan of the original game, here’s some good news.
It’s unclear how far along The Witcher 4 is, such is the nature of game development these days, although CD Projekt Red has at least made it clear that the upcoming sequel is the “most advanced” it has ever made. Production is expected to start at least this year, so hopefully it’ll only be a few years away at least. Still, considering The Witcher 3 is nearly a decade old, the wait is quite long for new content in the beloved action RPG. There will of course be a lot of Witcher fans who are just interested in the game, but for those who are ready for the book, the original author has some good news: he’s already finished another book.

According to PC Gamer, Andrzej Sapkowski recently gave an interview to French fantasy magazine Chimères, in which he stated that he doesn’t have any plans for the future of the series, but that he has finished the latest Witcher book. “I’ve finished reading this book,” he said. “It took me about two years – something like this.” Technically, Sapkoski completed The Witcher series back in 1999, but later returned to The Witcher in 2013 with another Geralt, the story takes place between the events of the original novel. Speaking at Warsaw Comic Con 2018, Sapkovsky stated that the story is complete, so presumably this new book will also fill in some gaps.

Sapkowski said last year that the book would be released in his native Poland in 2024 and globally in 2025, so it won’t be long before you can return to the world of The Witcher. Let’s just hope it won’t be 2030 when The Witcher 4 releases (even though we all know it probably will be).
