Persona 5 is an extremely long game, and it looks like the next game from the developer behind it, Metaphor: ReFantazio, will take up just as much of your time.
There are many reasons why I haven’t played Persona 5, but one of the biggest reasons is that the game is damn long. I’ve heard people say “yeah, at least 100 hours” and I’ve dismissed that because people exaggerate how long it actually takes, just look at How Long To Beat and you’ll see, oh my gosh, this It’s really like 100 hours long. To be clear, this is just people documenting the main story, which had a completion time of 173 hours (Atlus cried) – although Persona 5 Royal has a completion time of around 142 hours, albeit with more content, so your Mileage may vary. Now, Katsura Hashino, director of Persona 5 and the upcoming Metaphor: ReFantazio, says the new JRPG will be roughly the same length.

In a seemingly deleted post on Spanish site Vandal (later shared to Reddit), Hashino noted that Persona 5 is a “very huge game” and that Metaphor: ReFantazio will be able to catch up. its length. Most importantly, he shared that even after the credits roll, there’s still plenty of reason to continue exploring the game’s world, Eucronia, noting that the team did their best to make a well-paced game (which is a welcome bit ) given the Persona series’ well-known pacing issues).
Interestingly, Hashino also stated that the team originally thought Metaphor would be shorter, but due to the sheer amount of content they added, it was the same length as games like Persona 5. Sequence”, they’ll be happy to hear that Persona 5 has roughly the same number.
Our own Dom spoke to some of the team behind Metaphor last month, which you can read here.
Metaphor: ReFantazio launches on October 11 and will be available on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
