Pixel Watch 3 could be the shiny improvement Google’s wearables lineup needs, but the previous generation Pixel Watch 2 Still a good choice. That’s especially true when you can get it for as low as $224 ($26 off) — which is the current starting price for this watch on Amazon and Best Buy.
Although the Pixel Watch 3 introduced a series of solid improvements — including a larger, brighter display, a new 44mm size, AI-generated exercise suggestions, and offline Google Maps — the second-generation Pixel Watch is still beautiful. It comes in only one size (41mm), and the usable display area is only about 10% smaller than the third-generation model. It also uses the same Qualcomm Snapdragon Wear W5 Gen 1 chip, although it lacks the Ultra Wideband chip that lets you unlock nearby Pixel devices and select BMW vehicles.
Overall, performance is similar between the two, and battery life is about the same on the 41mm model, averaging about 24 hours per charge. With the Watch 2, you’ll only really miss out on the new workout features (other once-exclusive Wear OS 5 features are starting to trickle down to the Watch 2), plus a screen that’s said to be twice as bright. If you feel like these features of the Watch 3 aren’t worth the $350 starting price, we’d still be happy to recommend picking up the older model.
