Star Wars Desperados’ creative director saw complaints about some of the early stealth missions and promised some changes are coming.
Stealth is probably one of the most universally annoying mechanics in games. Don’t get me wrong, good stealth games like Metal Gear Solid or Dishonored make sneaking around fun, but when in a game where stealth isn’t the focus, it can sometimes become a bit frustrating Frustration, especially when there are moments where you might fail immediately. Star Wars Outlaws is the latest game to be affected by this, but luckily it sounds like some improvements will be arriving in a patch sometime in the near future.

The game’s creative director Julian Gerighty was recently asked by GamesRadar about the controversial instant-fail stealth mission and their plans. “So, I mean, you might be thinking specifically of one of the early missions in Milogana, which is incredibly punishing,” the developer said. “To me, that was a mistake and we’re going to work hard to improve that.” He continued: “I don’t think that means eliminating the failure state entirely, but I do think there are millions of low-hanging fruit that we Makes it more enjoyable and understandable.”
For Gerighty, it’s important that the game doesn’t feel unfair, but he admitted that “today, I think it felt unfair. Believe it or not, that was not our intention. Sure, 10 days might seem like a long wait, but hey, at least change is coming – or if you’ve completed the mission, you’ll have bragging rights for beating them when they’re worse (but don’t be that Personally, no one likes that person).
