Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Circle is now confirmed to be coming to PS5 in spring 2025, shortly after its initial release as a limited-time exclusive later this year. After a lot of reports and rumors during yesterday’s Gamescom opening night livestream, that was confirmed, and now Xbox boss Phil Spencer has spoken a little bit about the decision to bring the game to Sony’s consoles.
Apparently this is all part of Xbox’s ongoing plans for more cross-platform development, as outlined in a podcast earlier this year for Grounded, Sea of Thieves, Hi-Fi Rush, and Pentiment 》 has been brought to new platforms so far.

During a live stream at Microsoft Gamescom 2024, Spencer was asked about the Jones incident on PS5. The executive acknowledged that the four-game leap is part of Xbox’s “learning” process, saying he sees Xbox’s “franchises getting stronger and stronger” and that “Xbox console gamers” [numbers] This year’s gains are as high as ever.

He then cited Microsoft’s pressure to influence Xbox — the company has cut jobs and closed studios this year — as a factor as it posted strong results following last year’s big acquisition of Activision Blizzard. “We run a business,” he said, “and within Microsoft the bar is very high for what we have to give back to the company because of the amazing support we get from the company and what we can do.
“So let me look at this [as]how can we make our games as powerful as possible? Our platform continues to evolve on consoles, PCs and the cloud. I think that’s going to be a strategy that works for us.
Spencer then added: “The last thing I might say is [is that]As an industry, the pressure on the industry is very high at present. It has been growing for a long time and now people are looking for ways to grow. We as fans, as gamers, we just have to anticipate more changes to some of the traditional ways in which games are built and distributed, that’s going to change. This will change for all of us, but the end result must be a better game that more people can play. If we don’t focus on that, I think we’re focusing on the wrong thing.
He concluded by saying that as far as Xbox is concerned, the “most important thing” is its own health, the health of its platform and its “growing collection of games.”
