Xbox has just released a new update for September, bringing new features to people who use its service through the Xbox app, PC and consoles. For PC gamers, things get even tighter. For console owners, the updates are starting to show significant improvements. Here’s everything you need to know about all the changes happening in the Xbox ecosystem.
compact mode
as a Xbox Blog Post In detail, PC players can now use a streamlined version of Game Bar. This feature lets you select recently played games, explore the gadget store, and navigate common game launchers. Compact Mode, once only available to “Insiders,” is now available to everyone and is designed to make gaming less cumbersome when playing on smaller screens, especially when playing on mobile devices.
In addition to using a controller, users can now exit a running game by going to the Home widget, selecting the game, and pressing “Close.” If this sounds familiar, that’s because the feature is built into the Xbox console.
Turning on compact mode is pretty simple. To do this, all the user needs to do is go to the game bar, select “Settings” and then go to the “General” tab and toggle “compact mode” exist.
game management
We can now view and install all add-ons for the game they are downloading, regardless of when they first purchased it, whether on PC or through the Xbox app. If the game you are installing has add-ons, they will appear in one place for you to view.
To take advantage of this feature, you need to right-click on any installed game or access the left navigation panel. Once there, click on “Manage” and then click on “Add-ons” and you will be able to see it there.
Xbox app
If you’re an Xbox beta member, you’ll already be able to start using features in the Xbox Game Pass app within the Xbox app, as Microsoft is trying to streamline the two. Beta members can now view Game Pass and manage their membership through the Xbox app. If they subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate, they will be able to receive benefits and stream select games through Xbox Cloud Gaming on their iOS or Android devices. This will soon be happening to the rest of us too.
As a result, starting in November, the Xbox Game Pass app will no longer support new downloads. Oh, it’s going to app heaven.
Xbox game console
If you’ve ever been sitting on your couch enjoying an Xbox game and then been told that the game you want to play requires a 75GB update (Hello, fort night), then this feature should give you hope. There’s a new setting to pre-download updates and set them to go live as soon as the developer says “go.”
To enable this new feature, go to My Games & Apps, then Manage and select Updates. From there, you’ll see all the pre-downloads, which aren’t many yet. This feature is currently only available for sea of thieves, minecraftand cassette beastbut “more” games will support it soon.
Wish List Notification
You’ll now receive notifications if a game on your wishlist becomes part of a free game day, reaches its release date, or joins Game Pass. What a novel concept. Of course, you can turn off this notification if you want, although it’s unclear why you want to wish-list something.
