When DC Comics attacks writers Jeremy Adams take over flash Back in 2021, I knew that due to his outstanding work and track record in various DC animation projects over the years, I immediately knew he would knock it out immediately. Sure enough, Adams not only wrote some of the best stories for Scarlet Speedster in recent years, but most importantly, restored the fan-best Wally Waster championship. Although his term in the Flash title ended in 2023, his comics career has not slowed down. He has become a valuable contributor to DC’s publication program, writing down multiple titles, including new titles Aquaman Ongoing series and one Green Lantern The series focuses on the iconic Lantern Hall Jordan and the recently launched co-written DC Green Light Corps series.
Therefore, it is no surprise that DC Publishing recently signed Adams to an exclusive multi-year contract. Prescott natives in Arizona have certainly come a long way. Beats is very happy to chat with Adams about his DC exclusive contract, his early attempts to break into the comics industry and more!
Taimur Dar: First of all, congratulations to DC on its exclusive contract. I’m not secretly in love with your work on animation and the last few years of comics. So, this exclusive contract is not surprising to me. Are you looking forward to it?
Jeremy Adams: I have no idea. I am very grateful and modest. As far as comics, movies and stuff goes, my life has always been a freelancer. This is due to its own internal crisis management trying to find a job. Let them come to me and say, “We want you to work with us and work with us,” and that’s a huge vote of confidence that I won’t easily accept. I’m very grateful and hope they won’t regret it. [Laughs].
Taimur Dar: Even though your comics career is mostly for DC, you have written for Marvel in the past, and Flash Gordon The series that is ongoing now is on Mad Cave Studios, you have signed only a certain number of questions. Will DC exclusive affect any other projects?
Jeremy Adams: That’s it. Flash Gordon As far as comics are concerned, this is the only thing I do outside DC. There are things I’m promoting and trying to do, and I think I’m getting closer and closer to someone I have to wear the pill. I’m so excited to be able to focus on DC. Honestly, they are some of the cutest people. DC’s moments are very cool, not just in the comics with [editor-in-chief] Mary [Javins] and the absolute universe, but James Gunn and Peter Safran Come in. I think Jim Lee There is a holistic way to make them symbiotically with each other. Just become a small part of it, and that’s it [blast] As a comic fan.
Taimur Dar: I totally agree with you about DC’s overall approach to comics and other media. Although I understand why DC or Marvel, I don’t always like it when the comic releases characters to match versions in movies and TV or try to follow the direction of the studio.
Jeremy Adams: I think comics should lead in a lot of things. These movies exist because of the existence of comics and those creators. Something they resonated with. For me, the more successful versions of comics movies are those that are true to the core of these comics. The most successful movie for me is Christopher Reeve Superman movie. Even [Michael] Keaton Batman is important. Dark Knight and Batman is starting There is one Frank Miller The atmosphere and Dare series. Don’t criticize anything in particular, but I think that moment was: “Well, that’s how they project in the movie, so let’s reflect that in the comics,” I think it always backfires. To be fair, I’ve always been a super comic book nerd and he gets frustrated when people change their hair color. I became very strange. [Laughs].
Taimur Dar: I didn’t realize ever since Aquaman There is his own ongoing series until they announce that you will launch a new ongoing series. This new Aquaman Is the book coming?
Jeremy Adams: They asked me to do a question Batman: Brave and bold With Jackson Hyde and Miss Mars. I’m the comic’s “Mikey loves it” so I say yes to anything. I mentioned the blue idea Ben Mears is Like, “Man, that’s too big. You should consider it as one Aquaman Book. “I’ve just been thinking about it, so I’m texting by the editor Paul Fireplace I said, “If you want to promote on Aquaman, I would love to give you something.” He replied that they kept thinking about the book and I would be perfect. So we got together to talk about it. Paul and I have this unique relationship, I listen to his wishes, and he listens to mine. We fight against it, sometimes it may be confrontational, but I have such feelings for him and I hope he has love for me. There is some alchemy. This story is far from the realm of what I think is ordinary Aquaman books. But I had a great time in the waters.
Taimur Dar: You wrote my title there!
Jeremy Adams: [Laughs].
Taimur Dar: For some time, you and artist Travis Mercer shared the art of tone for potential DC Young Heroes books. I’m curious what’s wrong?
Jeremy Adams: I kept saying that I always wanted to make a young inner book with young heroes. Travis is looking for something to do and we are trying to put the courts together. We are pushing it out and trying to show that people are excited about it. This may not be the way to go, but I updated it! People didn’t respond to it internally, but that’s OK. We swung. And I think it’s fun to see Travis’ art at such a level. If they let me, I would write those hecks out of them and sell them at the door.
Taimur dar: I pointed this out on social media, but I like the facts you raised from the role of The Principal Cunningham Super Son Battle A few months ago, you wrote an animated movie to Green Lantern #11.
Jeremy Adams: Obviously you know Super Son Movies are one of my favorite things. I think it would be interesting. I’ve been playing around and seeing how to connect the animation world to the comic world, especially because I’m coming to the auto-animation world. Apparently Razer is Green Lantern Hawke Warman is showing up GLC. I love Easter eggs like this. I love people like you, “Oh my god! That’s from it!”
Taimur Dar: Obviously you’re relatively new to comics coming to auto-animation and TV, but while doing my research, I didn’t realize you tried to break into comics by pitching ten years ago bat Book.
Jeremy Adams: Because that’s the only thing I’ve got. I’m a friend Mike Marts Who was the editor of Bat Office, I was working as an assistant at a toy company. I met him, but I think the only thing I did is Green Lantern: Animation Series. I don’t even think I’m doing the second show, Meng Sunuo,go out. “If you want to promote this, I’d love to hear it,” he said. I still have the court. My biggest problem with Batwing is that somehow the Gears of War is the same problem, that is, I don’t want to see him as a counterfeit character in another character. Why should I care about this character? I have this thing he was framed for murder, he had to continue this global adventure to clear his name, and the entire Bat family tried to take him away. But through this we see that he is a character in his own right, not someone funded by Bruce Wayne, smart and fun.
Taimur Dar: I believe you said you have at least one animation in the pipeline to the video project. Your main focus now is comics, or do you have any TV and animation projects coming soon?
Jeremy Adams: I’m going to say the main focus of the comics, but I still do a lot of things when it comes to animation. I don’t think I’ll ever let these two people love to death. If you know me in any amount, you know I have a lot of power, how much I can write and what I like to write. So far, I’ve hit all the deadlines. Jim [Krieg] Always say to me, “Don’t you think writing is a job? Writing is fun. You’ll get paid for the bill.” I had a great time. I really like the comics, which is incredible. With the animation, I’ll open the script and it appears two years later. Therefore, it has no directness. I was able to perform a limited number of live TVs, which was also very satisfying.
However, I really like the comics to turn the script directly and quickly restore the art to its original state. TV is very cooperative, but limited in terms of cooperation. That’s why working with Warner Animation is so fun. There isn’t such a huge hierarchy above you that you’re overwhelmed by so many comments that it just fades the project to the point where you don’t care about it. Usually just me, Jim and the producers Bruce Tim or Rick [Morales]. This is the enthusiasm for creativity. We will receive notes, but they are so reserved and often very constructive. In comic books, it’s very same, like you’re performing every month.
Taimur Dar: Have you ever considered working in a comic work that creators owned?
Jeremy Adams: Oh, yes. Last year I was really close to making one and then I just put it. I think this is too stupid. [Laughs]. Comics, especially as individuals, are quite expensive. I’ve invested in a bunch of creators owned [books] For different publishers who are not interested. I thought I would be a Kickstarter, but if I do, I want to make sure I’m far enough that if someone wants to invest in me, I won’t let them wait for a year’s book. I was very conscious of this and paralyzed myself in my mind. I definitely have some ideas. I just have to overcome my fear of failure.
Taimur Dar: You seem to fit in this interview, wearing a green lantern hat for this interview, because the lantern is known for overcoming huge fears.
Jeremy Adams: This is one of many reasons why I will never have a ring.
[Laughter]
