Baldur’s Gate 3 7th Edition has finally added mod support, and it’s safe to say it’s quickly become a hit with players.
Modding Baldur’s Gate 3 has been popular so far, but it wasn’t until this week’s latest patch introduced mod support that it became more feasible. Less than 24 hours after the patch went live, Larian Studios founder and Baldur’s Gate 3 director Swen Vincke revealed that more than 1 million mods had been installed. To be clear, there obviously aren’t that many mods available, this is just the total number of all players with mods installed, but it’s an impressive and honestly a little scary number. You guys really want to modify the game, right?

But just a few hours later, ModDB and mod.io founder Scott Resimanis responded to Vincke stating that the game “just ended.” [three million] Install and speed up,” so I repeat, you’re all eager to tinker with the game, right? Mod Manager really makes installing mods easier, so it’s no wonder so many have been downloaded – you can only imagine how many have been installed since then.

In addition to official mod support, a number of new evil endings have been added, “bringing a darker conclusion to your most sinister games.” There are also some improvements to the split-screen co-op gameplay, which is a bit like a Lego game, with “the two halves of the screen dynamically merging” as the player gets closer.
The update does disappoint some fans, and although it’s targeting a specific character and it’s not yet available on Mac and consoles, it’s still coming. Larian also later made it clear to everyone that patch 7 is not the final update, especially with cross-platform play coming soon, so even if it takes a while, at some point you PC players will find that all of your favorite mods will be coming. Play with friends who only play consoles.
