What are you doing on Friday night? Well, Concord players are busy watching as it temporarily goes offline as an error message indicates that the race for the Platinum trophy has ended.
Ever since we learned the game was going away, debate has raged over whether Concord will actually return in the future, with one industry analyst calling the game’s current state of play an “unprecedented situation.”

When news of Concord’s impending closure came, Circana executive director Matt Piscatella said he thought what was happening with the Sony shooter was unique. “What’s happening in Concord is unprecedented,” he wrote on Bluesky (thanks to IGN). “I see people referring to Anthem as a game, but… no. Anthem was the best-selling game of its launch month in February 2019, the 15th best-selling game of the year, and is still playable today .
On the subject of its potential return, he added: “On the one hand, the game and IP were so thoroughly rejected that people probably thought it was unsalvageable. On the other hand, very few people knew about the game and maybe it could have been used differently. With both models and major updates coming back, I think this is an unprecedented situation and all options are on the table, so anyone’s guess is probably as good as mine.
Of course, one of the options floated in many places is the return of free-to-play Concord, with the idea being that by removing the traditional buy-in requirement, an improved version of the game might be better off with lower player counts following its initial release. Although there’s obviously some debate over whether this step will solve all (or enough) of the game’s problems to fuel the renaissance PlayStation is seeking.
What happened in Concord was unprecedented. I see people using Psalm as an accompaniment, but… no. Anthem was the best-selling game of its launch month in February 2019, the 15th best-selling game of the year, and is still playable today.

As we wrote in our review of Concord: “With all the rubbish and confusing business decisions (like not releasing it in PS Plus Extra), it’s a good game, but when the game doesn’t support , why would you put up with all this frustration? “Is there a unique identity and are there better free alternatives out there? “
Amidst all this discussion, the game has gained quite a bit of attention as a meme, or rather, a source of gossip on the internet due to its bizarre circumstances. One symptom of this situation is a Morbius-inspired Change.org petition called “We were all busy that week – please free Concord again.”
While it’s obviously a joke, it’s also managed to grow from a paltry 25 signatures when we initially reported it last week, to less than 2,000 at the time of writing – 1,934 to be exact. Who knows if these people actually care about playing Concord, but the petition certainly gained more attention in just five days than I could have ever imagined.
