There is no doubt that a college degree is desirable if you want to be a career as a professional conference planner.
According to career resource platform Zippia, 78% of conference planners have a bachelor’s degree, while 10% have an associate’s degree. A small percentage (6%) have a master’s degree.
The L. Robert Payne College, provided by L. Robert Payne Hospitality and Tourism Management of San Diego State University, has partnered with Meeting Professionals International to provide a conference and event management course, the first graduate-level program in North America.
Planners usually have a degree in business, communication, marketing, or hospitality, and a few universities offer conference degrees or programs.
