Konami’s Silent Hill 2 remaster is launching on PlayStation 5 and PC on October 8, but when will the game come to Xbox (if ever)? We don’t have all the answers just yet, but there are strong indications that if the game comes to Xbox, it will be at least a year away.
When will the “Silent Hill 2” remake be available on Xbox?
The September 2024 gameplay trailer contains a strong clue. The details of the recent trailer mentioned that the “Silent Hill 2” remake will be released in Exclusively available on PS5 console until October 8th, 2025. This means the game could be coming to other formats, including Xbox, as soon as possible.
This does not completely confirm that the Silent Hill 2 remake will be coming to Xbox in October 2025, only that it is the fastest date. There is no guarantee that the game will be available on Xbox.
How about Switch 2?
Nintendo is developing a new home console, the Switch 2, which some predict could be released in October 2025, paving the way for it to become a potential base for a Silent Hill 2 remake. But this is far from guaranteed. However, it remains to be seen whether Konami will bring a remastered version of Silent Hill 2 to the Switch 2 (or the existing Switch).
This type of exclusivity deal is not uncommon in video games. Companies like Konami in this case enter into this exclusive business arrangement with platform holders. In theory, the deal benefits both parties. Sony likely paid Konami for the exclusivity, and Sony got the benefit of PlayStation being the only console where people could buy the game for a year.
This issue has nothing to do with PC gamers, who can buy the Silent Hill 2 Remastered version on day one.
