There’s a new Werewolf movie coming out, in case you forgot, and we’re a little excited about it since it’s being directed by Leigh Whannell of The Invisible Man (2020), but we ( The hypothetical) first sight of the monster’s design has left us chuckling rather than terrified.
Via X/Twitter user SpeculationMatt, who seems to specialize in covering Halloween Horror Nights (an interesting niche for sure), we got our first look at the werewolf in Blumhouse and Universal’s The Wolf Man, or at least that Is that what we should see benefiting from this marketing campaign?

As you can see, the costumes look pretty cheap, but that’s not really a problem as we highly doubt they were just providing the performers with exact replicas of the costumes used in the production of the film. What is worrisome is the design itself, which has almost no wolf characteristics. I mean, it was just an old guy turned into a background fantasy character geek. In fact, I’m pretty sure I was a more convincing werewolf when I didn’t go to the barber shop and drink coffee in the morning for two months.
Cheap jokes aside, there’s a good chance he’s not actually a werewolf in name only. Of course, you’d expect the big Halloween Horror Nights movie to feature real werewolves, but looking at the other attractions and performers (just scroll through the user’s recent videos), many of the other costumes don’t look particularly close to their respective part of the screen. What’s the point of a reveal movie if there’s no proper monster reveal? Well, I don’t fucking know, but I do know that movie execs have been rolling the dice, so there’s a chance someone thought it was a good idea to randomly place a non-zero horror movie Halloween costume in front of a blurry banner until the first trailer That’s it for the film’s release.
The bad (but funniest) ending is this orc or whatever it actually represents At least A werewolf from Werewolf, in which case we’re in for a truly wild ride. I wonder if he was guarding a bridge at some point if that was the case.
This modern take on 1941’s The Wolfman is set to hit theaters on January 17, 2025, so for better or worse, a trailer should be out soon. Meanwhile, James Wan may be preparing a reboot of “Creature from the Black Lagoon” for Universal Pictures’ modern “classic monster” promotion.
